Mom & Dad's 40th Anniversary

On June 22, 1973....40 years ago these two lovebirds tied the knot.
My parents decided the way they wanted to celebrate was to have their kids, grandkids and closest friends join them for a weekend away in Osooyos.

The weather was perfect and the surroundings were beautiful!

These two guys would do anything for their little cousins :)

The fam chilling at the beach.

My brother, Scott, made everyone a round of Dr. Peppers...very yummy!

On Saturday evening my parents took everyone out for dinner to Campo Marina's, an Italian restaurant. It was very good!

Photo-ops with the kids and grandkids.

When we got back to the resort, it was dance party time...
Everyone got in on the fun!
(It was unbelievable how sound-proof the rooms were!)

Happy 40th Anniversary Mom & Dad!
You have been such an inspiration to all your friends and family and we all love you so much!
What a weekend to remember forever :)

Kenton's Accomplishments

The last couple of weeks have been packed full of excitement for Kenton!

On May 24th, he turned 16. He skipped school and we went out for lunch to Red Robin, then went down to the motor vehicle office so he could take his test for his learner's license.
He passed!

Kenton has been training and working out the last few months to prepare for the "Run for Water",
a 10k run. His goal was to run it in under 40 minutes, but his official time ended up being just a few seconds over 42 minutes...an awesome time! He placed 29th out of 1169 contestants and was 5th out of 80 in his age category...shows what hard work and determination can get you!

Last week, we received a notice that Kenton would be receiving an award this week. It was hard to figure out what he would be getting it for since he has awesome marks in all his classes, but it turned out he had the top mark in Grade 10 PE. How fitting since he is lucky to be athletic and scholarly. :)

We are so proud of all your accomplishments and look forward to seeing what the future holds for you!

*As a side note: Kenton just got a job with a bouncy castle company last week and also just got a phone call from McDonald's for an interview yesterday...When it rains, it pours!

I've decided to go ahead and post some high lights from last year that I never got around to posting.
Here are the links, as I've posted them as close to their original dates as possible.

Puerto Vallarta 2013 - Day EIght

Breakfast on our last day.

Soaking up some last minute rays on the beach.

One last dip at the pool.

One last pic of the two of us.

Such a great trip! Hoping it won't be too long before our next visit!

Puerto Vallarta 2013 - Day Seven

Part of our upgrade included room service, so Chris and I decided to have breakfast in bed today. I had waffles and Chris had an omelette. The hotel had delivered fruit and champagne the day before so we added the champagne to our orange juice. Had to sneak the little towel creatures in to the pic as well.

Also part of our upgrade was the use of these little cabanas. I usually preferred the sun, but these came in handy when it was started getting hot and it was siesta time.

Photo op at the pool.

Had a cigar on our last night.

I felt like today was the day that I finally started really relaxing.
So sad to know that we will be leaving tomorrow!

Puerto Vallarta 2013 - Day Six

Today started off much like most days...except my relaxation was interrupted by being told that I would be attending a time share presentation. It ended up only being two hours and was not high pressure, and the guys got the free upgrade for the last two days that they had wanted. I would have been happy with two extra hours in the sunshine...but oh well :)
I'll share some of our up ugrades in tomorrow's blog.

Getting ready for our evening out.

We had heard from many people, before we left for our trip and while we were on our trip, that if we were to go on just one excursion, the "Rhythms of the Night" was the one to see.
They picked you up just around dinner time and took you on a boat ride across the bay to an island called "Los Caletas".
They even had the crew provide us with some entertainment!

The ride was very enjoyable and romantic.

As we neared the island, the sun was setting. Very perfect timing...

As we got even closer, we could see torches and candles lighting up the entire island.

Almost ready to dock.

Once on the island our boat went to see the show first. The show was great! It was filled with beautiful costumes, dancing with gymnastics influences and flame dancing. Sadly we were not allowed to take pictures. After the show, we were taken down the beach a ways to have our dinner by candlelight. Once again, the food was excellent and the whole evening was a wonderful experience.
I have heard the day excursion to Los Caletas is great too, so maybe next time we can check that one out.

Puerto Vallarta 2013 - Day Five

On Wednesday, we decided to go to the little town of Bucerias. It was a nice morning of getting a few souvenirs, then having shrimp and beer at the beach.

The market...where there are lots of K-mart specials and people wanting you to come and look at their "junk". Haha!

You may be familiar with "Fat Boy Burgers" at home...
in Mexico it's "Fat Boy Seafood".

If you are a shrimp-lover, Mexico is the place to be...
look at the size of that shrimp!

We've since found this beer at home, but somehow it tastes better when you're hot and at the beach!
(And in Mexico :)

When our entertainer found out that we were from Vancouver, he sang a Bryan Adams song for us.

Later, back at the hotel, the entire buffet was moved to the beach for the evening. Apparently this was the first time the hotel has done this and I would have to say it was a success!

Puerto Vallarta 2013 - Day Four

After spending the morning at the beach, our husbands surprised us with a massage on the beach in the afternoon. Very relaxing!

Tonight was the seafood buffet and everything was absolutely incredible!

We had a Spanish coffee or a cappuccino almost every evening because they were so fantastic.

Group photo-op!

Puerto Vallarta is famous for beautiful sunsets and we were definitely not disappointed!

Breathtaking!
